Skin Fillers

(-See also Acne Treatments;Acne Scarring;Dermaroller)

Rejuvenating skin by using a chemical peel dates back to the time of Cleopatra and the Romans. Skinmedics peels freshen the skin, remove sunspots and rough patches as well as reducing freckles, irregular pigmentation and fine wrinkles.

Skin peeling can reduce fine wrinkling, although deeper lines will remain, which can be improved by other Skinmedics treatments.

Milder peels such as glycolic/lactic acid/salicylic etc peels can be used but many different types of peels can be utilised depending on preference and skin type. Specialised Skinmedics peels can also be utilised for anti-aging,pigmentation and acne type conditions. Some of these treatments have indeed been developed by Skinmedics to produce superior results and are sought after therapies by clinics across the U.K.

Depigmentation Special Peel treatment at SKINMEDICS

SKINMEDICS is one of the first aesthetic clinics in LEICESTER to offer the world-renowned specialist DEPIGMENTATION peel treatment which successfully treats common skin pigmentation problems, typically found after childbirth and sun exposure.

Developed by Dr Krulig, a plastic surgeon in Venezuela, the specialist peel is a single mask that treats Melasma, pigmentation and sun damage in as little as 7 days.

Pigmentation is a frequent complaint.  Skin ageing, hormonal disorders and sunbathing with no SPF (protection) are the most common causes.  The specialist peel is a quick and easy depigmentation treatment that allows sunbathing after treatment. (Even though it is recommended that SPF 15 -30 is worn)

The basis of the mask   affects the melanogenesis process.   The depigmentation peel has a direct effect on the intimate formation process of the pigment (melanin) and is based on the inhibition of tyrosinase, a basic enzyme in the melanin formation process. Several of the key ingredients including, Kojic Acid, Phytic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Arbutine, Titanium Dioxide, Retinyl Palmitate act by blocking this enzyme.

Treatment process

The clients' skin is first diagnosed by a doctor .  The depigmentation mask is applied, then after up to 12 hours the client removes the mask themselves at home with cold water and a cotton pad in slow, gentle movements.  Once the mask is removed the face is usually quite red and can feel itchy.  For 2 days a nourishing moisturiser is applied (Hydra factor K is recommended) After two days the clients returns to the clinic for a check up and is given the Depigmentation ‘M' home care cream. (A weaker version of the Depigmentation mask)  The face needs to be cleansed every time Depigmenation ‘M' is applied, only a thin layer of Depigenation ‘M' is needed all over face.  Apply AS DIRECTED each day for the first week, 1 to 2  times a day as directed for the second week and up to once a day or as directed for the third week.  (However if the pigmentation/melasma is severe it is recommended that ‘ M' home care cream is applied for up to three months)

The skin begins to improve one week after treatment, however, the best results are seen between 7-28 days and are successful in 95% of cases.  Pigmentation marks are eliminated and the skin is rejuvenated, restoring its smoothness and luminosity.

The  Depigmentation Special Peel treatment costs up to £750 (inclusive of first home care cream).  For further information or for your skin consultation, please contact SKINMEDICS on 0116 2129314

SKINMEDICS combines meticulously high standards with advanced clinical expertise to offer a broad range of effective treatments for the face and body.

Note: Melasma is a relatively common disorder of hyperpigmentation that affects sun-exposed areas of skin, most commonly the face. It most often affects women, and is particularly prevalent in women with darker complexions who live in areas of intense ultraviolet radiation exposure

Possible side effects

First and Second day: during the first two days of the treatment, the skin may turn red. If the skin is sensitive, the patient may experience an itching feeling. Slight burning and tightening of the skin is also absolutely normal, especially during the first 24 to 48 hours after starting the treatment. To relieve these problems, it is advisable to apply the Hydra factor K whenever necessary.   Reddening of the Skin: The reddening that occurs on the face after the Amelan treatment, is similar to, the effects of day-long exposure to the sun in the snow without protection. (Intense reddening in photo type I and II and practically non existent in photo type IV and V)  Flaking: Flaking may occur on all skin types (and more intensely in photo types I and II) between the second and third day. In this case it is advisable to apply the Hydra Factor K cream, repeating this every two hours on the day when the flaking is most intense.
